The Location and Climate:
The Governorate of Ibb is situated 193 km
to the southwest of the City of Sana'a.
The Old City of Ibb, the capital of the
governorate, sits on one of the green mounds of on the western slope
of Mount Ba'adan. It is at an elevation of 1,900 meters above sea
level, while the average elevations of the mountains of the
governorate are an average of 2.500 meters above sea level.
The climate in the Governorate of Ibb is
moderate throughout the year. It has abundant rainfall with a
refreshing coldness and give rise to periodic fog on the higher
elevations.
Topography:
The different areas of the governorate
consist of mountains, fortifications, green farm terraces, plains and
irrigated valleys or wadis cultivated with various types of
vegetables, grains and fruits. Most of the governorate is suitable
for agriculture, which is why the Governorate of Ibb is also known as
the Green Governorate. Among the famous wadis of the governorate are
Wadi Bana, Wadi Al-Dour, Wadi 'Innah and Wadi Rafour.
Area and Population:
The Area of the Governorate of Ibb is
5,120 km2, while
the population is approximately 1,894,000, most of whom are primarily
engaged in agriculture, livestock breeding and different economic
activities

Tourism and Environmental Paradise:
The Governorate of Ibb has a rich and
historical heritage, a wealth of natural and environmental resources,
mineral baths for environmental tourists, peaks that are suitable for
glider planes and mountain climbers.
The Cities and the
Historical Sites:
First there is the City of Ibb, which
has was one of the prominent Islamic cities during the Age of Islamic
Civilization, during the Middle Ages, providing health, educational,
administrative services as well as being an important commercial
center. The homes of the governorate have their own distinctive
style. The streets of the Old City of Ibb are stone paved and is
considered one of the most important tourist sites
Then comes the enchanting City of
Jibla, the Capital of the Sulaihi State of Yemen from 457 AH (1065
AD). It was in Jibla that the famous Queen Arwa Bint Ahmed Al-Sulaihi
reigned for 53 years.
The landmarks of the City of Jibla
include the Queen's Mosque and the Canal that slopes down the
mountain, which provides the city with fresh water, the historical Dar
Al-'Izz Palace.
The Governorate of Ibb also is where
the verdant Al-'Udain Area is found with its high quality coffee.
Al-'Udain is situated 40 km from the City of Ibb.
The other historical cities of the
Governorate of Ibb, include, the most prominent of these cities
Dhofar, which is the capital of the Himyarite Kingdom, and which has a
museum for tourists to visit.
Famous fortifications include Habb
Fortress and Al-Ta'akur Fortress.
The famous mineral springs of the
Governorate of Ibb include Hammam (The bath of) Al-Qafr, Irian and the
most popular bath of all Hammam Demt, which is now a part of the
Governorate of Al-Beidha.
